Having started off with a smooth start, it was decided that little crunch from a Quiznos toasted sub would provide some contrast to the day. For good measure, a little peppercorn action would really spice things up.
When ordering the Peppercorn Steak sub from Quiznos, the clerk knew it was all business after having asked whether or not to add onions and mushrooms to the sub. Channeling Stone Cold Steve Austin, the reply was, “Hell Yeah.” It might have been weird had I not been wearing my cowboy hat from the Calgary Stampede.
Mixing things up even more, it was decided that the peppercorn steak, mozzarella, sautéed onions, mushrooms and peppercorn sauce would all be held together between a rosemary parmesan bun. What better choice to compliment to the steak and peppercorn sauce?
Once the wizard behind the sneeze guard was finished bringing the sandwich to its signature level of toasted Quiznos perfection, it was time to get down and dirty.
Eating the sandwich in the truck was no big deal. My cowboy hat would serve as a big bowl to catch anything the wrapper might miss as I devoured this beast.
Whether it was the overly bland day or the fact that cowboys have big appetites, the sandwich came out swinging like Mike Tyson going in on Trevor Berbick and hit every mark on the list of a decent sandwich. This cowboy should have upped it from an eight inch to 12 inch, though. Again, cowboys have big appetites.
If you want a decent toasted sandwich that hits the spot, then you won’t go wrong with the Peppercorn Steak Sandwich from Quiznos in the South End of Sudbury.
