Tim Hortons is going all-digital with their annual Roll-Up the Rim contest.
In what Tim Hortons is calling the “start of a new era for Roll Up” the annual contest will be eliminating the roll-up tabs on their cups and introducing an all-digital way to play.
Guests will earn one or more Rolls on each eligible purchase by scanning for Tims Rewards using their Tim Hortons app or physical Tims Rewards card.
In addition to the new method of play, Tim Horton’s has made every Roll a winner with the retirement of the never-popular “Please Play Again” message.
Prizes have been amped up this year with the introduction of digital prizes like Tims Rewards points and subscriptions to popular streaming services, on top of regularly offered prizes of free coffee and donuts.
Beyond earning Rolls for hot beverages and sweet treats, this new Roll Up contest allows players to “earn Rolls with the purchase of select cold beverages, breakfast sandwiches and breakfast wraps.”
In March of last year, Tim Hortons first announced changes to the contest due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“It became clear to us in the months that followed that the ongoing pandemic was likely to impact Roll Up again this year. As we began evaluating the plan for this year’s contest and making it our most exciting game ever, we focused on two ideas,” said Chief Marketing Officer Hope Bagozzi in a press release.
“First, the growth of Tims Rewards and the Tim Hortons app were clear signals to us that Canadians are ready for a fully digital Roll Up contest — and going digital opens up all kinds of new exciting possibilities to evolve the game. And second, we thought what better way to reinvent Roll Up than to retire ‘Please Play Again’ and make every Roll a win!”
Offering more prizes than ever before, Tim Hortons Roll Up To Win contest begins on March 8 and runs through April 4
