After four years in the making, Netflix is set to release ‘Biggie: I Got a Story to Tell’, the first-ever estate authorized documentary about the life and times of the greatest rapper that ever lived the Notorious B.I.G.
The first Wallace-estate sanctioned documentary surrounding the late rappers life will feature home videos, backstage footage, and, of course, B.I.G.’s classic freestyle session on Fulton Street.
Executive producers for the film include Biggie’s mother Voletta Wallace and Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs, Bad Boy Records founder and friend of the Notorious B.I.G., amongst others.
In addition to producing the film, both Sean Combs and Voletta Wallace have contributed candid interviews, as have numerous others who were close to the legendary rapper, including widow Faith Evans, rapper L’il Cease, and childhood friend Damian “D Roc” Butler.
In the words of his mother Voletta Wallace: “This will be the first documentary to focus on the experiences of my son’s life rather than the circumstances of his death. It is a celebration of who he was and where he came from. This is how he would have wanted to be remembered.
Christopher “Biggie Smalls” Wallace was fatally shot at the age of 24 in Los Angeles on March 9, 1997, roughly six months after rival rapper Tupac Shakur was gunned down in Las Vegas amidst similar circumstances.
‘Biggie: I Got a Story to Tell’ premieres on Netflix on March 1, 2021.
