The KED Releases Parking Plan On Instagram & Electric Charging Stations Are Included

Without a doubt, the KED has the potential to be one of Greater Sudbury’s most innovative and successful projects that has ever been introduced to the Nickel City.

Despite its ability to transform the City of Greater Sudbury in a positive way for the first time in decades, the project has been riddled with noisy opposition for a few years, delaying the anticipated project.

Just recently, city councillors decided to waste even more money by hiring a consultant to do yet another report to outline the benefits of the project. Notably, the project would be near completion had the shrill minority not held up this massive investment to the city.

Nonetheless, the KED continues to progress. Yesterday, the Kingsway Entertainment District’s official Instagram account released the first in a series of visions for the upcoming project, including a parking plan for the property that points out many of its features.

Those in opposition to the KED still have yet to realize that parking is a big issue in downtown Sudbury. Last week, Facebook ads inundated Sudburians in efforts to obtain input from residents about another downtown project called The Junction East. Strangely, this project seems to call for the elimination of much needed parking spaces in that area.

The KED parking plan can be viewed on Instagram. It states:

According to the Instagram post, the KED looks to have 1250 dedicated parking spots with an additional 1400 overflow parking spots. These parking spots will be within 400 metres to the entrance of the brand new event centre.

As shown in the accompanying image on the post, the property looks to provide electric charging stations for electric vehicles. This would be a welcome addition, as would the KED’s proposed valet parking! Who else is looking forward to the next part of this series from the Kingsway Entertainment District.
