Doug Ford Just Made Hydro Rates Cheaper For Greater Sudbury & The Rest Of Ontario

Relief Sudbury

This pandemic has been brutal for people in Sudbury and with the new lockdown coming it didn’t appear to look any better. That is until today when Doug Ford announced a glimmer of hope for families all across Greater Sudbury and the province.

With the skyrocketing hydro rates we are facing today the Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford, announced that his government would temporarily discount hydro rates to help provide relief to all Ontarians. As of now the hydro rates in the province of Ontario will be dropped to 8.5 cents per kilowatt-hour. This low rate will be available 24 hours per day, seven days a week for a 28-day period. The off-peak price will automatically be applied to bills of all residential, small business, and farm customers who pay regulated rates.

Doug Ford didn’t just stop with that. His government also announced some relief to people with overdue energy bills.

The Covid Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) can now help any residential, small business, or registered charity customer with an overdue electricity or natural gas bill.
