Canada Is Going To the Moon & We Aren’t Stopping With One Trip

Canada Moon Project Artemis

Canada is going to the moon and it will be the first time we do so. It will actually be the first time since 1972 that anyone sends a manned mission to the moon. Even Elon Musk hasn’t sent anyone to the moon yet.

On December 16th, 2020 it was announced that the United States and Canada will team up for the mission called project ArtemisII. This is really exciting news and also isn’t the first time Canada and its Technology have played a crucial roll in space exploration.

The Canadarm3 will be contribution that Canada gives to the American-led, Lunar Gateway. The Lunar Gateway is a space station that actually gives astronauts the ability to land on the moons surface.

Furthermore, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry had to say this about the announcement today.

“This is a significant moment in Canada’s space history. The Canada–U.S. Gateway Treaty takes Canada to the Moon for the first time. Our country will collaborate with the most advanced space organizations in the world on cutting-edge science and technology for the benefit of humankind. As Canada joins the U.S. and other international partners in this great adventure, our continued leadership in space robotics will be a source of national pride – and all eyes will look to the sky as one of our astronauts becomes the first Canadian to travel around the Moon.”

The Hon. Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry
